چکیده

A life cycle energy use, CO 2 emissions and cost input evaluation of a 650 MW Biomass Chemical Looping Gasification Combined Cycle (BCLGCC) Biomass/Coal Integrated (BIGCC/CIGCC) power generation plants with without (w/o) capture & storage (CCS) are analysed. These were then compared to coal/biomass combustion technologies. The covers the whole process including biomass/coal supply chain, electricity at plant CCS process. showed lower emissions, yet higher costs plants. Coal illustrated input; however biomass can reduce near zero, while BCLGCC BIGCC resulted in negative 680 kg-CO /MWh 769 /MWh, respectively, which is due utilization efficiency for hence less captured stored. Regarding total (TLCCI), equal 149.3 £/MWh 199.6 £/MWh, (TLCEI) both 2162 MJ/MWh 1765 MJ/MWh, respectively.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of an Integrated Biomass Gasification Combined Cycle (IBGCC) with CO2 removal

Basing on results of previous studies, the efficiency of a Brayton/Hirn combined cycle, fuelled with a clean syngas produced by means of biomass gasification and equipped with CO2 removal by chemical absorption, resulted 33.94%, considering also the separated CO2 compression process. The specific CO2 emission of the power plant was 178 kg/MWh. In comparison with values previously found for an I...

Evaluation of CuO/MgAl2O4 in Biomass Chemical Looping Gasification with Oxygen Uncoupling

Chemical looping gasification (CLG) is a promising method for the utilization of biomass to produce syngas. However, its realization is largely dependent on the use of an oxygen carrier with a high and stable reactivity in cyclic reduction and oxidation. This work focused on the improvement of reactivity and stability of CuO in chemical looping gasification via the addition of MgAl2O4 as an ine...

Small-Scale Gasification-Based Biomass Power Generation

Introduction Gasifying biomass to produce a combustible gas provides the possibility for much more efficient overall conversion of a given biomass resource into electric power than is possible with traditional combustion-based technologies. In particular, gasified biomass can be used to power internal combustion engines (ICEs), gas turbines, and fuel cells, all of which are able to produce elec...

CO2 Enhanced Steam Gasification of Biomass Fuels

The current study involves an experimental investigation of the decomposition of various biomass feedstocks and their conversion to gaseous fuels such as hydrogen. The steam gasification process resulted in higher levels of H2 and CO for various CO2 input ratios. With increasing rates of CO2 introduced into the feed stream, enhanced char conversion and increased CO levels were observed. While C...

Comparative Evaluation of Biomass Power Generation Systems in China Using Hybrid Life Cycle Inventory Analysis

There has been a rapid growth in using agricultural residues as an energy source to generate electricity in China. Biomass power generation (BPG) systems may vary significantly in technology, scale, and feedstock and consequently in their performances. A comparative evaluation of five typical BPG systems has been conducted in this study through a hybrid life cycle inventory (LCI) approach. Resu...
